Gilgit: Religio-political group Majlis-e-Wehdatul Muslimeen (MWM) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) have reportedly agreed to form an alliance for contesting elections in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

The decision, according to a local Urdu daily, was taken during a meeting between Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Allama Nasir Abbas of MWM in Islamabad.

The two political parties have reportedly agreed to cooperate for the elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.

It is pertinent to note that PTI is running a coalition government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa province, with the support of Jamat-e-Islami. In Gilgit-Baltistan, however, JI has no significant electoral strength and therefore PTI has reportedly decided to contest the elections with MWM.
